5 Ways You Can Improve Your SEO Without Hiring an Agency

Search engine optimization is a crucial part of digital marketing, and for good reason: 45% of users will not return to your site again if it does not appear prominently in search results. The challenge with SEO is that it requires technical knowledge of algorithms as well as constant vigilance to track updates. That’s why many business owners opt to work with an agency when they need help improving their search engine optimization. While hiring an expert may seem like the quickest and easiest solution, it isn’t the only one. As an independent consultant who works with business owners on an ongoing basis, I’ve assisted numerous clients in identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing changes on their websites, and monitoring progress over time. Here are some practical ways you can improve your SEO without hiring an agency.

Start with an audit of your current situation

First and foremost, it’s important to understand the current state of your SEO before you commit to any changes. This will allow you to determine which areas of your website require the most attention. If you hire a consultant, they should perform this audit as part of their initial analysis. If you decide to do it yourself, the best approach is to create a data table with four columns: Title, URL, Keyword, and Current Rank. Start with the first two columns: Title and URL. For the Title, use the name of the page. For the URL, use the actual URL of the page. If you’re not sure what these are, open the page in a browser and you should be able to see them on the top bar. For the Keyword column, use the keyword you would like to appear for. For the Current Rank column, use the rank of the page as it currently appears in search results.

Create a tracking programme

One of the first steps towards improving your SEO Services USA  is to gain a better understanding of how your site is currently performing. This will enable you to identify where there are opportunities for improvement and create a roadmap for improvement. One of the best ways to do this is to create a tracking programme. To do so, choose three to five keywords that are important for your business and that you would like to appear for in search results. Then, use Google’s Keyword Planner Tool to determine the average monthly search volume for each keyword. Next, use a tool like SEMrush to determine the keyword’s current ranking. Once you have this data, you can use it to create a tracking programme. I like to use Excel spreadsheets because they allow you to create a variety of tracking programmes based on the data you’ve gathered.

Be selective about the pages you invest in

As you conduct your analysis and create your tracking programme, you will likely identify several pages that could use improvement. While it may be tempting to try to improve all of these pages, the reality is that you simply don’t have the capacity to make meaningful changes to every page on your site. Instead, you should focus your efforts on the pages that will provide the greatest return on investment (ROI). Two areas to focus on are your homepage and your articles.

Don’t neglect your site’s usability

Great content is essential for driving organic traffic to your website, but if no one can find your page, it won’t matter. Your site must be easily navigable, allow visitors to find what they’re looking for quickly, and provide a pleasant experience. While you can’t control how Google’s algorithm ranks your content, you can control how easy your website is to navigate. To do so, you should undertake usability audits of your site. You can either hire an agency to perform the audit or do it yourself. You may also want to use a tool like UsabilityHub, which allows you to post a URL and receive feedback from real users about how easy it is to navigate your site.

Write great content

One of the easiest ways to improve your SEO is to write great content. This means having a clearly defined purpose for each article, providing useful and actionable advice, and appealing to your target audience. Moreover, it means optimising your articles for search engines. You can do so by creating an SEO agency checklist and ensuring that each article includes all of the elements on that checklist.

Summing up

SEO is a complex process that requires a great deal of time and effort. Fortunately, there are several ways you can improve your SEO agency  without hiring an agency. To start, you should perform an audit of your current situation, create a tracking programme, and be selective about the pages you invest in. Also, don’t neglect your site’s usability, write great content, and you’ll be well on your way to improving your SEO. If you’re serious about growing your business, then you need to be serious about your SEO strategy. With these strategies, you can take charge of your SEO efforts and see real results.
